Community Impact Statement
For many young people in Bozeman, skateboarding is their primary community and creative outlet. During winter, that outlet disappears: parks are buried in snow, daylight is short, and indoor options are limited and often expensive.
Winter Skate Nights directly addresses this gap by offering a warm, supervised, low-cost space where youth can move their bodies, express themselves, and feel part of something positive. The program supports:
-
Physical health, through regular movement, balance, and coordination
-
Mental health, by providing a constructive way to manage stress and build confidence
-
Social-emotional growth, via mentorship, peer support, and achievable challenges
At the same time, the program is a concrete way for the broader Bozeman community to support HRDC and the future of local skateparks—tying winter recreation, social services, and long-term infrastructure into one collaborative project
