The Blank Skate Project is SAM’s flagship creative fundraiser.
Plan:
A free, all-day community event combining live music, live tattooing, a silent art auction, food, beer, and a high-energy skate contest. Built on the foundation of expression and unity, this project brings Montana’s skate and art scenes together to raise funds for future skate infrastructure—specifically the first new skatepark in the Citywide Skatepark Plan.
Event highlights include over 40 artists customizing blank skate decks, a curated live music lineup, incredible food, a local beer garden, and a mini-ramp contest with divisions for all ages. A SAM booth will be onsite sharing our current projects, selling merch, and making it easy for attendees to donate.
🔁 Background & Inspiration
SAM is inspired by creative fundraising and grassroots events that bring the community together, so when we went to the North Dakota Skate Association's Blank Skate Project event, we knew that we should do something similar in Bozeman.
Bozeman's only skatepark (Kirk Park) was built in 1999 when the population was around 20,000. Since then, Bozeman's just about tripled in size to 59,000 in 2025, with a projected 70,000+ by 2030. It's time to create the safe skate spaces for the Gallitin and surrounding communities.
Program Pillars
🎨 ART

100+ new/used skateboards painted white and distributed to Montana artists

Artists are encouraged to use any medium—paint, collage, sculpture

Artists can choose their own sale % (recommended 20-40% to New Skatepark Fund)

All decks available for silent auction during the event

Art station where attendees and their families can paint, sketch, etc... for free.
🎸 MUSIC

2–3 live bands from Bozeman with different genres

1 live DJ covering transitions and background sets
🛹 SKATEBOARDING

Either a pop-up miniramp or small street setup depending on venue

Miniramp contest / Best Trick / Game of SKATE formats depending on venue
🌭 FOOD & 🍻 BEER

If the venue includes food service, we’ll coordinate with them

If not: food truck or DIY BBQ setup to increase funds raised

Beer garden pending licenses and permit
